I want to test out a new phone I bought for a Christmas present to make sure everything works as it should before the 15 return period is up but you need an active SIM card to do this of course. Can I just take the one out from my phone and once everything checks out ok put it back in mine again or would that screw things up. They are both iPhones and are with Koodo. I just can't get my sons phone away from him long enough to use his sim to try it out.

Hey there - this won't impact anything related to the 15-day exchange/return policy, nor your warranty. The only thing that may potentially happen is when a customer gets a new phone, an automated text is triggered letting the customer know their options if they have any questions about how the phone works/features, etc. Since you'll be putting your SIM into the phone, it'll likely be you that gets this message. Was the phone purchased outright somewhere, or did you get it as an upgrade to your sons existing phone number?

I ordered it online during Koodo's Black Friday sale and it is an upgrade to his existing #. I just want to save it for Christmas but want to try it out first to make sure everything works as it should since I've had a defective iPhone on the past

Yes you can just test with your sim assuming the sims are the same sizes
