Telus takes priority over Koodo in calls?

Hello all I am out of contract and looking to switch carriers. Got a call (good fortune on my part?) From a Telus rep who advised that koodo customers do not get the same priority as telus when it comes to calling. After spitting coffee through my nose I thought I would consult the mavens on this board to confirm this ain't so before I make this life changing decision. This seems to be one very unsavoury racket topping car undercoating, apologies to car undercoaters.

I think this is pure bs on some of the reps who must be incented somehow not to lose you a telus customer. We heard this before and it always turned out to be more urban legend than truth.

Funny thing is I am not a telus customer. The day I go off contract they called me.

You said you are looking to switch....your contract has expired with telus, but unless you already made the switch or cancelled your line wouldn't you still be a telus customer?

I am with Rogers, my contract expired at midnight on the 14th (apparently dates and times are strict to avoid cancellation penalties). On the 15th this rep from Telus calls to advise of his lame package. I say I am thinking Koodo and that's when I'm told of this priority system vs Telus. Frankly, I don't think I can stomach this conglomerate and their tactics, its shameful, but wanted to hear from this community. Gotta make up my mind in the next few days. Cheers.

Well I've been with koodo for a while and really have no complaints. Good coverage, decent prices. Yes, I could get something even less expensive but i've been burnt before by that thinking. If it helps according to the below they stayed on top for this year as well along with saskatel.

If you have your own phone they will give you an extra 10% off your monthly bill too.

It is definitely an urban legend. Koodo has the same access to the network as Telus does. Maybe it was just a Telus rep trying to keep a sale.

Thanks Mark, after I cleaned me self up I thought you folks would know. The mothership is very questionable with its tactics.

I'm actually with Telus and I must say that the network has actually been more reliable than what I've seen with the topics on these forums. Pretty much every day I see people say "phone has no service!" or "emergency calls only!" when a SIM/battery pull usually fixes it... and then some people say they have to do that multiple times. I have never had to do it once in the 7 months I've been with Telus nor have I had any dropped calls. Could just be me, I don't know.
