I have 3 different numbers on my account with their own plan & tab balance, but the koodo rep. at my local kiosk stated that i can only use 1 tab at a time. I was going to use my wife's tab balance as its nearing +150 and that if i use her balance i would have to change her plan to use the S4. why cant i use use any tab balance on my account since i have 3 diff. numbers attached to it.

That happened to me too. Unless you are trying to move to a higher tab you shouldnt have to change any plan.

I just tell the kiosk that I will activate the new sim to the new phone on my own via self serve

To be honest when this happened to me with my account I was pretty upset too. But I was able to change back the sim later that night.

i will head over to a bestbuy and see if anything said here is true. so ur saying i can use my wifes tab(+150) plus a Tab M( +300 ) toward an S4, and change back the sim cards after i get home. im still a little confused.

i have an unlocked BB Torch with my own sim card and if i use my wife's tab + Tab M and activate in store (I believe u said a micro sim for an S4) i would have to re-activate her old sim and re-activate the new micro sim for the S4 under my number.

is that correct?

You can only use the tab associated with the line of the phone you wish to upgrade.

IE: You cannot use your tab to upgrade another line's phone.

That's been established, Myke. We're telling him how to accomplish what he wants.

I read through the entire thread, did not see anywhere it was mentioned, hence why I mentioned it. I wouldn't be repeating information if it was already mentioned.

I'm confused. You have 3 different lines in 1 account. Correct? If this is true, and your wife has a tab of +$150, she is able to use that tab to purchase the S4. Now, according to the math; the Tab M is the best deal compared to the Tab S and the Tab L. So the Tab M allows you to have up to +$300 to -$300. So if you have +$150 on your tab, then you can use up to $450 on your tab to purchase the S4.

The S4 is $675, so you would have to pay $225 up front. You will also have to change to a Tab M plan.

You are able to use your tab. I believe the Rep was misunderstanding your question or was taught the wrong information.

yes on the $450 toward an S4 but the rep. said the sim card and the fact i cant use any other tab other then my own account phone numbers tab toward a new phone. my wife was willing to help me by using her tab balance to upgrade my phone.

they also stated that changing phones(using a diff. sim card) is the issue. i dont understand why i cant use 1 of 3 tab balances since its almost done ( +150 ). my phones tab has just passed even. i have to wait for my balance to buy / upgrade to a new phone. ridiculous

Ok so sim card being the issue I can totally see.

Like I said before, I would ask them if you can activate via self serve on your own.

If they say no then let's do it the round about way. Activate the sim with your wife's number. Go home and then reactivate your wife's old sim back to her number.
Then you can activate the S4 sim to your number

if i activate the sim with my wifes number they would definately change her plan on the spot. at least that is what i think they were referring to.

They wont need to change your wife's plan as long as it is $30 or over if you are looking to upgrade her tab to a Tab M

Dennis is completely right in this case and to change to a tab medium you don't need to change your plan as long as it's $30 or more. I've done it about a month ago and kept my plan which was $30.
The thing is your trying to do something somewhat not allowed and that's use your wife's tab to get a phone to put on your line which you can't do as tabs are non transferable even between lines.
What Dennis is telling you is a way around this. You can't tell them that you want your line upgraded but use your wife's tab because that's not allowed, so just upgrade your wife's phone on her tab and then go home. Then change what phone is on what line through self serve when your at home, put the new phone on your line and your wife's old phone back on her line. What your doing isn't really allowed so if you tell the sales ppl what you plan on doing they can't really help you with doing what you want to do you just have to do it yourself.

Like I said as far as having to change plans to get a medium tab though that is not true, as long as it's $30 or more you don't need to change your plan. I know this first hand as I've done it personally about a month ago. You will have a $5 medium tab charge added to your wife's plan that will be charged every month for the next 2 years and no there's no way to put that charge on your line.

For Koodo accounts you can have up to 5 people on an account (if you qualify,) and each person on the account has their own plan and tab. Unfortunately, you can not combine TABs or use other people's tabs who are on your account.

You can only use what is free under your tab.

Take care.
