Someone help me out here... If I pay 5$ a month for a tab it means that in all, after 2 years or 24 months I'll have paid $120. So, by this logic, if I get 25$ towards tab I should pay 95$ in all. If this is not so then my "goodwill" is going straight into Koodo's pocket not mine. Is this right?

You pay $95 if you had a $120 outstanding and got $25 as goodwill or for referring people to koodo. Why do you think it would go their pockets?

because 5$ a month for 24 months is 120$ I have paid the 120$ plus have 25$ for goodwill and my tab is at -120$. That's why. I still have to pay 5$ for another year!

24 months hasn't gone by yet for anyone. That rule the government created only started less than a year ago.

That doesn't really change anything. This is the contract I signed and my tab should be positive. I don't understand why it isn't by koodo's logic

If you have to pay $5/mo tab charge, it means you are taking Tab M.
Then you would need to pay off $300 in 24 month.

If you have a $50 plan, you will clear in 24 month.
$7.5 (15% of your monthly plan) + $5 = $12.5 x 24= $300
And if you received $25 "goodwill", you will paid off in 22 month and you will start accumulate positive tab sooner. It's benefit you.

If you have less expensive plan than $50, You will have $xx short for paid off, but it will be wiped by Koodo. So it might not benefit you, but it doesn't mean Koodo made extra money in their pocket.

yes I'll try. ok, I have a plan that I pay 5$ a month towards the tab. If you count that equals to 5 x 24 = 120$ right? So my actual tab isn't 300$ it's really 120$. Now if I include goodwill 25$ it SHOULD bring my portion of the tab from 120 to 90$ right? Otherwise Koodo's paying themselves and it does me nothing to have goodwill amounts.

WHat is your plan without taxes and fees and tab charge

Is it the $35 plan here:

This is assuming a Tab M

Tab Charge = $5
From your bill: $35 x 15% = $5.25
Total = $10.25 per month
After 24 months = $246

However if you look at your tab closely and on your contract your tab should be reduced by:
Tab Charge = $5
From your bill: A minimum of $7.50
Total = 12.50
After 24 months = $300

Which means a referral credit of $25 will reduce your 24 month tab time by 2 months.

If this was a Tab S then:
From your bill: A minimum of $6.25
Which means a referral credit of $25 will reduce your 24 month tab time by 4 months.

The S3 is currently available for 0 on tab small. So it would depend on when she purchased it. But the other thing to keep in mind is that once your tab is paid off, that $5 tab charge goes away. So if you got a goodwill credit, as Sophia said, you will be paid off sooner, and once you are you no longer have to pay that $5 charge.

Can you show us a screen shot of this (minus all your personal info since this is a public forum)?

I think seeing this would be easier. A picture is worth a thousand words

Here is my friend's Tab history.

It is pretty consistent as the Smart Pay Charge is the Tab Charge and the Billing is the from your Bill (at least 15%) amount.

The reason the amount from Koodo is different some months is because it's a percentage of your bill amount, so if you have overages on a bill and your bill is higher those months then the percentage will result in Koodo contributing a larger amount.

OK. you bought your phone on Feb 8th 2014. Phone price was $300.

You would need to pay $300 + tax to get your phone, but you put $300 on the Tab and pay $0 upfront instead.
Now you need to pay back $300 to Koodo. You pay $5/mo and Koodo pay down your tab for you(15% of your monthly plan) because you are on the monthly/post paid customer.

Koodo's contribution on your first month is higher( $7.5) because you paid more (proration). I don't know why $7.5 contribution on 2nd month.(maybe overage?)

You will be pay down about $257 in 24 month.
($12.5 x 2mo) + [($4.41 + $5) x 22 mo] + $25 goodwill = $257
it would be $232 if there was no " Goodwill Adjustment". You are still $43 short to pay off your tab, but Koodo will clear it for you.

So I guess $25 Goodwill didn't do good for you because your tab will be wiped after 24 month anyway. But same point, You don't have to pay $43 - $68 at the end.

It would be nice if we can find way to use "referral credit" different/better way...

Exactly my point I have 2 referrals (50$) and they will serve me zero purpose. I'd also like to point out that I pay 5$/month towards the tab not /6.25$
It's maddening to know I won't be able to take advantage of my 50$ Oh and my bill is always the same I don't use the phone that much never ever been over.

Thanks Lou! I see what you are talking about here.
I would totally call customer service. It looks like it is "there bad"

Your agreement should say your tab is reduced by $7.50+$5 Tab charge every month.
Anything less than $7.50 per month is in violation of the agreement.
The $7.50 tab contributions looked correct at the beginning but something happened to mess it up and lower it to $4.41 which does not calculate right.

I'm confused.... If your plan is $35, then Koodo's contribution is $5.25. If your plan is $30, then Koodo's contribution is $4.5.
I don't know how it calculate to $4.41 ...

I would call again. Maybe this time you get someone nicer.

I wouldnt drop this and just accept it. If the agreement signed said $7.50 then it will be until the tab is paid off (unless some fine print says otherwise).

Pull out the agreement see what it says

I have contacted Koodo regarding this... I did get 35$ as another "good will" but it far from answers my question or solves my problem. I can try again but I doubt very much it'll change anything...

And are they going to fix the $4.41 monthly billing accrual or does the $35 credit make up for the incorrect calculation?

Nope the 35 $ was just cuz they ran out of excuses to give me I think... Maybe customer service reps need more training (this isn't a dig just to be clear). I know what it's like when someone calls and I don't have an answer for them.

I have 2 phones that I got in October on $300 tab medium $30 plans. My contract says that I will pay $5 tab contribution an my tab will decrease by $12.50 per month right on the contract. I just checked self serve and there is a decrease of 7.50 + 5 dollars every month (even though %15 of $30 is only 4.50) for each phone. So I think there is something wrong with your tab contribution amount. You might want to check what your contract says as well.

Thank you I will check my contract and I have send Koodo another email as per Curtis's reply. Hopefully all will work out and I'll be happy.
