I am thinking of going to koodo and have checked that my iphone is compatible and it is. Just wondering the next step. Do I just go and get it unlocked and then I was wondering about service plans. What's the deal with the monthly plans. Do they base these plans on your credit score because I won't have any because I am not from Canada

The pans can be chosen not matter what kind of credit you have.
Since you already have your own phone, then go ahead and unlock it.
The credit check Koodo does is to see if you would be on a credit limit of $200 or not.
Which means your bills cannot exceed $200.
What kind of iphone is it?

The iPhone is different that all other phones when it comes to unlocking, as all official unlocking is done through iTunes. Therefore, you should only use your current carrier's unlock service, or an online service that states that they go through Apple for unlocking (carrier option is usually cheaper).

To my knowledge, you do need a credit card for monthly plans, but your credit score doesn't really matter all that much if you're not getting a phone from Koodo.

Also, since you are bringing your own device, you're entitled to receive 10% discount from your monthly fee and do not have to choose an iPhone-specific plan.

Hi there, the credit score does matter as it will indicate if someone is eligible for the postpaid service with Koodo, whether this person gets a phone with us or not :)

What if we're bringing our own phone? Will a credit check/score still occur/matter?

Even if you bring your own phone, they will run a credit check on you to sign up for the postpaid/monthly plans.
And this is a old post and mentioning about 10% discount. But they no longer offer 10% discount for BYOD(bring your own device) :(

Also, if you want to get a phone through Koodo, the credit check they do will determine if they can provide a credit towards a Koodo phone.

It's the iphone 4s 16 gig. I had it from my time in Ireland. Can I port my number over considering I'm currently on mobility?

If it's a canadian number there should be no problem porting it. I don't think international numbers can be ported.

ile2010, you do not need a credit card for monthly plans.
The only time a credit card is needed is if there is not another piece of ID for the credit check
