Switched Plans and got charged for airtime? Has this happened to anyone else? Seems ridiculous!

I knew I would need more data last month and maybe for a few months ( I had a baby and needed to use my phone more ) I changed my plan to a higher data plan...ironically with more airtime minutes also....Koodo has some system where it calculates how many minutes I've used in the first part of the plan and it deemed me over my minutes for a certain amount of days and I got charged for airtime during that time. Not only that but it doesn't tell you that is going to happen so I had no idea until I saw the extra charges in my bill. I think this is crazy. Has it happened to anyone else? Please share so we can get this changed.

It's called proration. You get a percentage of your alloted plan amounts base on how man days of th billing cycle you were on that particular plan. I never liked it but I believe it's pretty standard for wireless in Canada. Funny thing is Internet providers don't do it generally . I've swapped to unlimited before when someone decided to go wayyy over with streaming and it's been all good with overages gone.

Hello Linda.

It's a common thing and it happens overtime you change your plan. Very sorry that you didn't get to know what the consequences will be.

Next time this need arises, I recommend switching to an unlimited minutes plan - that way any usage after that point won't matter. You can then gauge how much you need next month and adjust accordingly.
