Switched my phone and unregistered sim.

I've had a pixel with koodo for the last year but I recently bought a galaxy S8 on kijiji unlocked. The sim card works perfectly fine in my pixel and when I switch it into my s8, which takes the same size nano sim, it says unregistered sim. Is there something I have to do on the site? HELP

Are you sure the phone you bought is unlocked, and not reported stolen?

I checked the IMEI on a checker and it says it is clean.

How would I be certain that it is not locked?

The easiest way is to insert a nano SIM card from a different carrier. If that's not an option, dial #7465625*638*# from the phones' dialpad. If prompted to enter the Network Lock Control Key, your S8 is locked. To test if the unlock code is valid, dial #7465625*638*CODE#  (replace CODE with your unlock code). The screen should read: 'Network Lock Deactivated'.

It was unlocked, I reentered the code and it said phone unlocked again. I used a Bell sim card and it worked fine...

Many times. Taking it out after closing the phone and putting it back in before starting phone back up.

It could be the problem with the phone network selection mode. It might pick another carrier instead of Koodo. I would suggest resetting network settings or manually select Koodo in the Cellular carrier setting. I would normally factory reset all used phone before using it.

Have you seen the phone working before you bought with another carrier? "Unregistered SIM" is also a sign of a "blacklist" phone.

Hmm. Have you tried manually selecting Koodo in the network selection menu?

That is strange. Honestly, I don't know what to do in your case, except trying to meet with agents from Samsung and Koodo personally at store and see what  they can do.

I would suggest you bring another SIM from another carrier with you to show them the phone working fine with other carrier when you meet them. If you show them evidence that you are being "blacklisted" on Koodo, they will have to do something or instruct you to do something. Samsung could also be blamed too.

I would message Koodo on Facebook or Twitter and give them your IMEI, along with your issue. That way they can see if there is any back end block/issue on their side. If they can't help it there isn't one, I would warranty the phone.

It may be a damaged SIM reader.

*EDIT YOUR POST TO REMOVE YOUR IMEI NUMBER!!!
Someone could clone that IMEI, then you are really out of luck.

My only thoughts are to try a different sim card in that S8...any active sim card. If no active sim card works in that S8, there's likely an issue with the sim card reader of the device.

Maybe there is a balance owing through Koodo / Telus? From the previous owner.

This is what I'm suspecting...a collections block from TELUS/Koodo.

I Called koodo and they said that the phone is not their register so it was never used with a koodo account...

Could be Telus as well

Yes! Parent company, so blockages would include any sub company on their Network (Koodo, Public).
