I am on a BYOD 10% discount plan and want to switch to the new plans, in the FAQ area it says I can do it via self serve, on the selfserv it does not allow me! I have 2 plans to switch... over 2 years and no tab at all.. what the heck?

What do you mean it doesn't allow you? Are you getting some error message?

I am getting this error/popup message:

Based on your profile, you are not eligible to complete this transaction.  Potential reasons for this are:
  • You have not been with Koodo for at least 3 months
  • You have not yet paid off your first bill
  • You are on the spending limit program
. all are not cases applicable to me..

Also at the bottom of the plans switch it says: New plans are available when you agree to pay off your Tab balance and agree to the changes to your Tab.

That's odd. Maybe try log out and in again, could be just a glitch?

If I call their call center they will charge me 10$ per line to switch to the new plans.. better off with Fido, they have the same plan..

Call them, explain it didn't work and they will not fleece you for $10 if you explain what happened. Lotsa folks complaining about this, also on the French side of the community.

Hey Michel,

IF you want to switch to one of the new plans and you're currently on a pre-April 19th 2015 plan, then you have to call into Koodo at *611 from your Koodo phone to make the change. If you have any outstanding tab for either line, it must be paid off first which shouldn't apply to you as you said you have no tab. You will however lose your 10% discount by switching to a new plan. The new plans have the discount built into them already.

Thanks Ahmad, will pass by their booth tomorrow as the wait time is over 1 hour to get thru an agent, as for stating that the discount is included in the price plan is simply a marketing trick from Koodo/Telus , if so then why other subscribers who are switching to the same plan are having it, knowing that they didn't bring their own device by the time..

Oh don't worry we're all well aware of it not actually being built into the price especially since prices have went up not down, there's enough ppl though that are not smart enough to realize it to justify them giving some bullish reasoning.

I was told by 611 that I'd have to buy a new phone in order to have access to the new plans. It'd be great if we could get a clear answer on this. If new customers can bring their own phone and sign up to the new plans, I see no reason why a person who brought their own device in the first place shouldn't be able to do the same.

I told the guy that this sounded like a scam. He did not disagree, though seemed confused as to what was so bad about buying a new phone. He said otherwise I'd be stuck with choosing from the old rate plans which no longer have the 10% no-tab discount.

I feel scammed.
