Swapping large SIM card with micro

I have a base plan and my husband has a pre-paid plan.
Hubby would like to upgrade his phone but the new phone has a micro SIM card and old card will not fit in smaller micro slot.
He wants to keep his current pre-paid plan.
I can't get an actual customer service rep to answer this without Koodo charging me $5 for the call.
What to do?

Hi Shannon,

To begin, you can speak to a customer service rep without being charged 5$ (See this: http://community.koodomobile.com/kood...)

However, the quickest way for you and easiest would be to bring the new phone to a Koodo retail location who can sell you a new SIM card for 10$ and transfer the account to the new SIM card that can be inserted in the new phone, keeping your current plan and any pre-authorized payments, or boosters you may have.

Hope this helps!

I should clarify, the new phone is prepaid Telus Moto G purchased at Best Buy. The sales person said we just needed to swap the SIM card from the current Koodo Samsung Ace to the new phone and all is good. When we got home and opened the phone, we realized the SIM card slot on the Moto G is too small for the old SIM card from the Ace. On the prepaid self serve there is no longer an option to change phones and customer service will not help without additional payment.

Shannon,
When you call, you only get charged 5$ when you get the rep to do something self serve can do. Go to a Koodo stall in your mall, and buy a new SIM card and get them to transfer the account to it. It will only cost you the price of a new SIM card.

So we can't switch the account to the SIM that comes with the phone? Because it is Telus?

No, you need a Koodo SIM card to use the phone on the Koodo network

Prepaid SIM cards cost $20. Buy a prepaid micro-SIM from Koodo. Log in to prepaid self-serve, click "Base Plan and Boosters", then click "Change SIM" and enter the number from the new SIM card.

Thank you.

What do we do with the Telus SIM that came with the phone? Can we sell it?

Yes, but it likely has less value than the effort. Guaranteed-to-work SIM cards sell for $5 - 20, often with a rebate. You would need to satisfy any purchaser that the SIM would work for them.
