There is no "seasonal hold" on prepaid. Just make sure to NOT renew your baseplan at the due date. Your line will be deactivated and your minutes/data booster balances will be available for up to 90 days until you renew the base plan.
Never had any success getting call forwarding to work on prepaid even if the account was active and in good standing.
If you do decide to maintain your service, you can only roam as far as the US, and that will require roaming boosters that must be purchased separately. Nothing available overseas on prepaid.
