Is your original SIM card still installed, or were you sent a new one?
If you have moved from another carrier, your new SIM my not yet be provisioned.

My previous card is from Bell. After following the directions on Koodo, it said it might be in emergency mode for up to 15 minutes (I did not cancel my account with bell before doing this). After about 1.5 hrs still in emergency I called Bell to see if I needed to cancel with them and they said it had been cancelled. It shows my previous number as my active number in Koodo.

What happens if you dial your number? Should go to VM.
If someone else dials you?
Is your SIM card properly installed?

Try rebooting your phone, turn it off and back on again. If that doesn't work try doi G it again and but try taking out the SIM Card while it's off and then rwswat it and pop it back in and turn it on again and see if that helps.

Should note. I took out the sim card and placed it back in my old phone and it should emergency mode there too

By chance, did you purchase your phone through an existing account, such as that of your husband? If so, a phone might be shipped without a SIM, expecting the existing account holder would just swap the SIM.
