Strange Txt Concerning US & Int'l Txt Change

I just received a text from Koodo saying "Incoming texts are now free! US and Int'l outgoing texts change from $0.60/txt to $5/100 txts." But I thought when I signed up back in 2011 that texts incoming and outgoing to US are free.

So my question is, back in 2011 till now was I paying for each text incoming and outgoing to the US?

If I were to fancy a guess this text is related to texting while in the US when you dont have a roaming add-on.

Im certain that incoming and outgoing international texts are included in the current plans while in the US

I have to correct you Dennis. :-) No current plans include international texts while you are in the US. You have to purchase an add-on. The poster has an excellent memory as koodo use to have add-on that included unlimted outgoing an incoming messages. That changed a couple of years, if I recall correctly, when they stopped havingadd-ons with unlimited texts and incoming messages also counted against the bucketed amount (say 400 messages) in the add-on. Just recently they seemed to have reversed their position and now incoming messages are free. Hopefully that was due to pressure we applied here, as no customer have real contro who and when they receive messages from.

Oh so the reason why my phone bill is so high is because of the incoming and outgoing messages to the states? The main reason why I went with Koodo was because of the free unlimited texting to the states since my fiancé lives down there.

The plans nowadays include international texting from Canada to anywhere, but roaming is a different story.

You can text the usa all day long for no extra charges and you can get messages from the usa without additional charges as well as long as you're on a Canada Wide plan and in Canada at the time.

The text you got concerns the rate if you were using your koodo service while you were physically in the USA and using a USA network.

If your bill is constantly high, you're on the wrong plan. It's time to evaluate page 3 of your bill to see why you're being charged so much and change your plan appropriately.
