Wondering if koodo ever plans to implement Spotify subscriptions to plans? A lot of other service providers offer that, don't see why Koodo doesnt also jump on that bandwagon

Hey Brad,

That is an awesome suggestion, Koodo sometimes offer $10 Bill Credit for 6 months. Which is identifical to the price per month of Spotify.

In my opinion, I prefer getting the bill credit better since I like Apple Music more than Spotify and I won't really feel like switching music streaming providers just to get an offer.

Since they all copy each other in prices, when Koodo has $10 off, Fido also has $10 off in addition to free Spotify.

Well, it's only to new customers... Never got that bill credit...

I'd like to see this as well. I currently pay for another music service as part of another subscription. Recently while looking to change that provider it occurred to me that doing so would mean I'd No longer get a discount on that music service and would likely have to pay full price or choose another option. It made me reconsider switching. It's good customer retention.

Although I like the idea, I would not choose Spotify over any of Koodo's other promo's. I think if there would be a good way to implement this is to offer it at a discount as an add-on. Say for one user Spotify for $10 per month, get it as an add-on through Koodo for $7 per month, and perhaps there may be the occasional personalized offer to add it for $2 per month. Even then, this would be really out of place for Koodo to offer Spotify, especially given that Koodo's "Choose Happy" has nothing to do with music streaming.

If you compare the three subsidiaries:

  • Koodo offers activation credits and refer a friend promotions (Freedom Mobile also offers both of these, but not nearly as generous as Koodo)
  • Fido offers Spotify and refer a friend (their refer a friend is not nearly as generous as Koodo's, plus I don't think their new tab format is transparent as it doesn't drop after the tab is paid off)
  • Virgin Mobile offers member benefits (coupons/discounts at various venues...good for shopping malls)

I think it'd be more awesome if Koodo Mobile were to offer an exclusive discount to its subscribers on fuel and groceries at select grocery stores and gas stations, that way everyone would flock to Koodo, no questions asked.

Could someone cancel every 90 days and grab for 99 cents per month for 3 months each time? I suppose they could do it with a different email address each time.

I just can't see how Koodo would attract more subscribers for throwing in Spotify.

It's a limited time offer and I suppose you could potentially game it if you're that cheap. I'm sure their bean counters took that into account.

Plus you get the joy of managing a new number quarterly.

I'd like to see providers jump off that bandwagon and see a price break on the plans.

To enjoy one time...or to port around every few months? I'm with Ivan on price breaks on plans instead.

I would rather see a price break also as not everyone enjoys the same music service as the next person...

$38/4GB Public Mobile (Province-wide calling), $45/4GB Fido (Canada-wide), $50/4GB Rogers (Canada-wide). TELUS is trying to hit Freedom Mobile with their inferior, no customer service brand, and they are getting hit by Rogers. Fido's plan is even better than QC plans. Try to take advantage of that.
