Some questions about Nano SIM cards

Hey everyone,

I have some questions about Nano SIM cards. I have a Nexus 5 that I bought off-contract and obviously it has a Micro SIM card that I got from Koodo. I ordered a 32GB Black Nexus 5X directly from Google and it will be arriving at my house on Monday, I'm really excited! However, after ordering it, I realized that I need a Nano SIM card for it and I can't keep using my Micro SIM card. So, I plan on going to a Koodo Kiosk and buying a Nano SIM card. However, I do have some questions about this. First question, I am on a grandfathered data plan (5GB data, unlimited calling and texting for like $40 something) and I do not want to be taken off it, would I need to switch plans if I get a new Nano SIM card or would I get to keep using my existing plan with no problems, and do I get to keep my existing phone number and Koodo account with no problems? How much is a Nano SIM card, and what do I do after I purchase it? Does Koodo activate it for me at the Kiosk after I buy it, or do I have to activate it myself? After it's activated (either by me or by Koodo I am guessing), I just put it in my new phone and then everything works automagically?

Thanks!

No need to change your plan so no worries there. Just go buy the SIM Card you need and bring it home, then log into your self serve account and select the phone tab, the chance handset and enter your new SIM Card number and confirm. Then place it in the new phone turn the phone on and away you go, easy peezy.

Just make sure you enter the SIM Card number exact to avoid any issues and wondering why it's not working.

I don't plan on it, it's just if I ever needed to for whatever reason. Once I get my N5X, I'm going to be sticking with it for sure. I just wanted to make sure that getting a new Nano SIM card would be easy to do, and wouldn't interfere with my amazing grandfathered plan or force me to change phone numbers or anything.

If you get a sim card from Koodo, they usually ask you if you want them to switch/upgrade your sim right away.

If you want to switch back to Nexus 5(Micro sim), go to self serve > change phone > enter sim number > restart your phone.
Then you can change your phone to Nexus 5X(Nano sim) through self serve again.
So, you can use 1 sim/phone at a time.

Note : This only works with monthly sim card. - Prepaid sim is one time use.
It will expire after 90 days of no activity.

I switch back and forth between my Nano sim phone and Micro sim phone all the time.

Hey,

Oh, that's awesome. I hope they let me keep my old Micro SIM card, and I bet they will. I do have a monthly plan, and I would be getting a monthly Nano SIM card from them.

Thanks!

The old Micro Sim is yours to keep, It just won't be active once you activate your new Sim.

Most SIM cards you buy now are MultiSIMs, they have the Mini (or what most call regular), Micro, and Nano SIMs

Do Koodo Kiosks sell MultiSIMs? Do I need to go and ask for a Nano specifically or a Multi or does it not matter?
