Social media add ons

ello! first sorry about the horrible grammer im working on a school project and am in a hurry!

so i used to be a crackberry user with koodo around a year ago before i upgraded to android with koodo; and there was always this add-on where we could purchase BBM for $5 a month or so.

so today i was browsing the Add-ons and it clicked to me.

why are there no Social media Add-ons? or a Youtube add on?

i'm a student, so naturally my money is limited and i would never get a data plan with koodo because my money is limited ( right now i have unlimited texting, 200 mins with koodo for $25 month) i would get a data plan but $10-15 for 1 gig is to expensive for me and its not worth it in my honest opinion + there's the fear i might acsidently go over it and be charged an extra $10....

so i guess my obvious idea by now is why not add social media/video streaming add ons??

unlimited app browsing, apps only not the browsing websites
such as:(apps only) tumbler,facebook,twitter,instagram for like 5$ a month
such as:(apps only) youtube , twitch, crunchyroll , crackle, netflix , hulu (for the "special" users) for like $5-$10

and it would just be limited to that, so no browsing , (google, facebook browser, bing and other sites.

I Hope you consider this, think about how many of your customers you would attract to purchase this add on and how many customers you would attract from other companies ..... teens and young adults would more then be over joyed, and i know some of the middle aged and older customers would also be happy.

I dont know your profits when it comes to normal data plan but if you compare the overall profits in the end this might be the better choice (though i cant say since i dont know all the numbers i suppose)

The reason why there were unlimited social media add-ons with the older Blackberries was because they required special provisioning codes and the data went through RIM's servers, so they could control what data your phone was allowed to use. Now that it's been "opened up", so to speak, this isn't possible anymore. Even the new BB10 devices can't get the unlimited social feature.

I'm sorry explain that again?? dumb it down if you dont mind i am stumped

also!!

well "what if" koodo or someone release an app , a social media app, which then connects to your sim card or what ever voodo magic we have now and once it does that we can access those apps if we have that add-on .

or something along the lines .... just shots in the dark hoping i can hit a target ..... i seriously need my social media o.o

You seem to be confusing need with want. ;) Try using WiFi more often if you can. You don't need to look at cat videos all day or browse Reddit for 8 hours.

I'll explain the data issue again: the older Blackberries, which ran OS 7 or older, had different data access requirements. Your carrier had special codes in your plan for data to work. These codes meant any data transmission that took place went to RIM's servers. This allowed your carrier to offer those "unlimited social networking" add-ons because they could control the data.

On iPhones, Androids, Windows Phones, and BB10+ devices, there is no special code needed and it is not "controlled" by anyone, so your carrier can only offer a bucket of data and you have to use it how you see fit.
