I'm just wondering if Koodo ever plans to introduce Data Share plans to their larger plans. I would LOVE to be able to connect a tablet to my existing phone's data plan.

They don't have any plan at the moment to have data plans for tablets. However you can easily use your smartphone as a wifi hotspot and connect your tablet to your phones wifi hotspot. You would just get charged the same as using the data straight on your phone.

... though your smartphone battery will get hammered. A second SIM card to share the data with a tablet would be preferable.

I don't find it takes much more battery than using data alone. It's much cheaper to buy a secondary battery than to buy a data capable tablet over a wifi model which will cost you $100 more & a secondary battery is like $25 or if you don't have a removable battery you can get a portable battery charger pack for like $50.

Personally speaking, I wouldn't. I would HATE to try and even attempt to troubleshoot those. This just seems to complicate what Koodo already offers.

If Koodo ever does offer Tablets, I will embrace them, but I hope that Koodo never goes down that road.
