My contract expired in November with Telus. I'm wanting to switch to a prepaid plan with Koodo but I don't want to change my phone number. I want to bring my unlocked phone to Koodo and buy the Sim Card. How can I do this? and will it cost money to terminate my plan with Telus?
Now that you have finished your contract with Telus, you don't have to pay any extra fees to cancel your services with them because you technically own the phone now:)
And its really easy, just go to a Koodo kiosk and buy a SIM and some boosters and BOOM! You're done! And also, you can do this online if you wish:)
And for keeping the same number, you will not be able to do this unfortunately.
The Koodo prepaid SIM cards already have set numbers that you can choose from.
(After you buy SIM card and you register it on your computer, you will be given 4 or 5 choices of numbers to choose from)
Hope this helps:)
If you see a good answer, make sure to give them a star:)
It should be able to port telus number to koodo prepaid.
Once you finished your contract with Telus, you can open a prepaid account with Koodo ( you might need to set it up with temporary number), then port your Telus number. Don't cancel Telus account because you need active account to port out number,
And easiest way to do this is to go to Koodo kiosk as Eugene said.
I guess I was lied to then:(
When I asked the Koodo employees at my local Koodo kiosk, they said it is "impossible" to import a number from the past to a new prepaid account.
So I was left with no other options than to just choose a new number:(
