Hi Greg,

First of all I am not familiar with Walmart's offer... so I couldn't tell you what it is all about or if it is still on.

However, based on what you're saying that you just use "Google, Facebook etc"... unfortunately it is very hard to tell how much data you'd use with that. Right now Koodo has a special offer with 200 minutes and 800mb data for $45 - but the downside to that is that you'll need to provide your own phone to get the plan for that price.

In all truth, if you are brand new to smartphones, consider prepaid first to get the hang of it. You can always upgrade to a plan later...

Since you don't text or call much, have a look at Telus. Their prepaid Moto G is $150 (an awesome phone), and you can buy some data, for example the $10 pass (valid for one month, 100MB) to see how much you'd use. Or get the $25 pass with 500MB instead. Local calls will cost you $0.15 per minute.

Suppose you find out you want more out of your phone after all, then you can always upgrade to a Koodo plan (or prepaid) later.

I know the "free tablet" and all that sounds enticing, but you'll probably need to spend $$$ each month to pay that off - nothing in life is truly free especially in the cell phone world :)
