Slower than molasses

Recently got a Galaxy Note unlocked running 4.0.something.
Yesterday it was running fine. No lag at all. Absolutely beautiful. Now, everything is loading incredibly slow.
Stopped all background apps
Cleared RAM memory
Uninstalled all my apps until this slowness is fixed
Took that battery out for about 2 minutes
Any ideas?

I find adding water to molasses thins it out and makes it run faster, try that! LOL
Same effect running on the wifi or 3g?
Did you try doing a complete reformat of the device and starting fresh?

maybe your expectations of its speed capability is too high, go to iphone ;) lol sounds like you got a lemon :( doubt the unlock caused the the phone to act this slow. I found my bb's would act up like this but after a fresh format would work fast again for a bit until needing another format.

I had a galaxy infuse before and it randomly goes into a boot loop for about 2 minutes. I'd rather deal with that at this point lol. Thanks for the help and suggestion but I have a love affair with Android and Samsung

I had the original Galaxy Note for awhile just before the Note 2 came out and I got that & that was my only complaint was that it lagged pretty bad. I think it's due to having so many features & only 1gb or RAM which definitely isn't enough for the mass of features it runs. If you don't want to deal with lag then I'd definitely send it back & get the Note 2 which has absolutely no lag at all due to the quad Core processor and 2gb of RAM which is really needed to run the mass of features the Note series has.

Try turning off some of the features is about all you can do other than what you've done.

I'll give that a shot today. I want it to run somewhat smoothly before I put my SIM card in

I did notcied when I clear the RAM memopry it says something webout 15 - 19 applications closed....maybe that is the issue. I wonder why it hasn't happened before...

Tyler, try this:

Settings > Developer options > near the bottom you'll see "Limit background processes"... set this to 4. See if it improves anything. I know it improves the battery life on my S III, for sure.

I'll try that as well. it takes a few minutes for me to get that far in the phone but I got some time to kill today to figure it out. Thanks

Update!

I have followed everyone's advice with the exception of getting the note 2 :P

Now, the only issue I have is when I am going into the settings. That's where is it slows right down. Every so often I get the pop up stating that "Settings is unresponsive: Wait or Close"

Any ideas?

By the sounds of it you got a dud of a phone it shouldn't be that slow and shouldn't say things are unresponsive constantly. There's an issue with it deeper than anything you can do to make it run better by the sounds of it.

Funny story, actually. I kept it off for the last 24 hours plugged in for a full charge. Before I unplugged it and turned it on, I gave it a little bit of a pep talk about latency. "If you show me you can work without slowing down, I promise never to drop you if I can help it and if I do I will put you on a pillow to recover." I turned it on after that and everything works relatively smooth. I do still see a slight lag but nothing worth complaining about. Basically I tried to inspire morale so the phone will be what I need it to be. Yes, I DO talk to inanimate objects....I'm not crazy!

Don't worry I talk to objects & actually to myself constantly lol. Great to hear and ya like I said the device does lag doing things a bit which is understandable for what the device does and it being the first try at such a device to pack so much into a mobile device. Hope it keeps behaving for you man, enjoy.

As do I. I love the size of the screen for The Simpsons: Tapped Out and a few zombie FPS games. HA! Thanks for the help :)

I was looking at your site that I just remember I had in my favorites last night to see if there was a way to email you directly about it but I was too tired to look beyond the first page or two.

I have a Note 1 and have tried all stock and many custom roms.

I find both stock ICS and JB slower and eat more battery than customs but JB is acceptable if you want the TW laucher and SPen apps.

Have you done a factory reset yet?

I found the de-bloated Telus JB recoverable image at xda is the easiest path to a good performing JB experience.
