If you used all of the attempts trying to put in the PUK code, then that sim card is useless now and you need a one new. So what the person told you is true. You can get one at your closest Koodo, best buy, future shop, etc for $10+ tax ($20 for prepaid).

It's a security feature in case the sim card is lost. It really can't be used now. Next time just call in to customer service and they can provide the code right away for you.

Out of curiosity what were you doing when prompted to enter the PUK code so other Users can avoid doing it.
were you trying to password protect your SIM on your own?

I think the problem is some users think they may be setting up a password for the phone as opposed to the sim card. i.e. they are going through the settings and think the sim card lock is the same as a regular password lock

First of all, check your phone is locked with carrier/sim . If your phone is locked with your current sim , use unlock code to unlock it . Get code from the provider http://www.prounlocking.com/supported... to unlock it .

OR

If you need puk code ,ask your carrier to unlock it .
