Hi,
I need to unlock a couple of LG G4's for an upcoming trip, so that I can use a local sim while away.  Koodo charges $35 for a unlock, and I can get an unlock code from cellunlocker for $8.  Is there any good reasons to pay the $35 for the Koodo unlock?

Nope. Save your money.

Agreed with Goran. Even $8 is expensive. eBay is safe and reliable for unlock codes, and you can probably unlock an LG off eBay for $4 or $5 (CAD). Cellunlocker is in USD, so it works out to be a bit spendy. I'd only pay that much to unlock a Samsung. I've used Cellunlocker before and they are reliable, but I've only had awesome experiences on eBay.

I too use eBay primarily and just pick the right price with good feedback scores.

Really appreciate this info about how to unlock your phone! Does it matter when you unlock a new phone ? Waiting three months only applies if you are unlocking with your phone company, correct?

No it doesn't matter if you get your own code. That's correct.
