Just a few days ago my phone updated while my prepaid plan was expired and when the phone turned on after its regular update reboot, my sim was off. Every time I try to call Koodo through the phone it States that the sim is off but I can turn it on. Yet when ever I press the 'turn on' button, the notification goes away, but nothing happens!

Make sure your phone isn't set to 2g or gsm only in the settings menu under networks.
Also make sure airplane mode isnt on.
Still not working try turning the phone off and removing them SIM Card for a minute then replacing it and turning the oh one back on.

What do you mean by the SIM has turned off, Ashley? Did you renew your base plan? I'm having trouble understanding what you are experiencing exactly. Can you post a screenshot of this button you mentioned?

Unfortunately I've tried the above options to no avail. I have topped up my account as well yet this problem persists. When I go into settings, a few buttons that relate to my sim card are fadded, indicating I can't use them.

Wow, that is so very strange! Never seen anything like that. Are you close to a store? I would go back and ask them to exchange the SIM for another one and activate that in self service.

Which phone do you have exactly Ashley, I've never seen that before?

How long was tour prepaid account not used? Has it been over 90 days?

OK, first. Yes, I used my account with my phone. Second, my phone is a studio X Plus from the compaby blu. And Third, its only been a week (6 days to be exact. I myself have searched the internet for a solution to no avail and I was put on hold by the Koodo calling center for over an hour and maybe 15 minutes before I gave up waiting. I'm also a 2 hour bus ride to the mall where the Koodo booth is located and the people there aren't techs, they only know how to set up a phone. I think you guys can understand why I'm so frustrated haha.

Oh gosh yes, when something is supposed to work and it doesn't, it is very frustrating! Normally I would refer you to eBay to get a prepaid card... but right now the prices they ask are exorbitant :(

Do you use Facebook? You can try and contact Koodo on there, make sure you refer to this thread so they know what problem you have. Maybe they'll be so kind to send you a prepaid SIM card (no promises, but they can be really nice so I'll be rooting for you haha)... and then you can set that up in self service hoping it'll solve your problem.

Again no promises but give it a try!

I managed to find an article that matches the error message. According to one answer, the phone has to be factory reset. Backup anything you want to keep, the reset will wipe the contents of your phone. The article pertains to an Android powered Swipe Elite which appears to be a device exclusive to India. If this is the device you're using, it runs a custom OS, (Freedom OS v1.1), which is based on Android Lollipop.

Since the above is not your phone and it received a recent Android update, we often recommend a factory reset after an Android update, particularly if the phone is experiencing software glitches. Again, backup anything you want to keep before resetting the device. Go to: Settings > Back up & Reset. Keep us posted.
