Service Issues and Network Mode

For about two months now I have started experiencing issues with my service.  At first I had thought it was just me experiencing the problem but after talking to people with Koodo and other providers in my area they are having the same problem.  No matter where you were in the city I live there was no bars for service.

When I called the Koodo Technical Support I was told I wasn't connecting to the tower in my area, and then to change my Network Mode from LTE/4G/3G to 3G/2G only.  This seemed to fix the service problem and I then changed it on all my families phones (Koodo and Bell phones).

However, that was over a month ago and I am now once again running into issues.  At first restarting my phone fixed my texts from failing, but now I have to restart between EACH text to send them.  I have full bars of service, so I can't understand what is happening and it is highly irritating.

Is there a way to fix this?  I've had this phone for a year and never had connection issues with LTE/4G network.  Why would I need to change it and why is the 3G/2G now having issues to?

It could be a Sim card issue. I'm quite surprised that they said to switch to 3G/2G. That usually is what introduces problems since Telus / Koodo doesn't have a 2G network. After restarting your phone, you can try resetting network settings if you're on iPhone and Android. You can also pull out the Sim after turning the phone off for 5 minutes just in case these aren't things that you have done. Let us know. You can see if the Sim card follows the problem by putting it in another phone or another Sim in your phone even if a different provider. You could need to replace your Sim card. If that too will not work, I'd give resetting factory settings a go if android. Then more tech support woild.be needed.

3G/2G is a bundle option for me as well.  I will try your suggestion on switch to a different phone to test the SIM card.  Thank you for you help!

WCDMA Only is 3G only. Problem is on some Android phones, this setting is often hidden. On most Android devices, entering *#*#4636#*#* through the phones dial pad, selecting Phone Information and selecting 'set preferred network type' reveals the option to select WCDMA only. No reboot required. If a restart/reboot is performed, the network type selected will return to default settings.

I don't think the SIM card is the issue. You mention getting full signal strength on 3G. Sounds more like a software related glitch within the phone itself. I'm leaning more toward resetting network settings first. If that doesn't work, then a factory reset as a last resort.

To reset network settings to default, go to: Settings > scroll to Network Connections > tap More networks > tap Mobile Networks (make sure mobile data is enabled with a checkmark) > tap Access point names. Beside the '+' symbol is the menu icon, (three dot in upper right corner), tap the menu icon and select Reset to default to reset network settings to their default values.

I've had a similar problem twice, and swapping the SIM sorted things out.

I have just tried the Network rest, and it seems to have improved.  If it happens again I will probably request a new SIM card and hope for the best.  Thank you!

Just to update, I did do rikkster's suggestion on resetting the network and changed back to LTE/4G/3G mode.  My messages and calls are all going through and sending faster than before.

Odd thing is though, that I only get one to no bars of service even though it's still faster than having full bars on 3G/2G mode.  Before I called technical support I had only one to no bars but nothing would send.  So I'm not quite sure why it is working now.
