'service disabled' LG V20

Hi There,
just bought a new LG V20 (LS997) that is unlocked. I put my sim card in and could make some phone calls. However, the data connection was somehow incomplete (I could send and receive messages on WhatsApp but couldn't send or receive pictures and couldn't open some web pages). I tried to change the APN settings according to what is written in this forum but had no success. After playing with the settings a bit suddenly the entire connection to the network was lost and on the upper left side it wrote 'service disabled' instead of Koodo. I tried to go back to the settings and all the settings that related to the network became gray and I can't get access to change anything anymore...

I'm not sure if this is related to the problem, but they phone writes that my data usage is about 5,500 Mb while on Koodo self serve it is only 500Mb. I couldn't change the usage limit on the phone as it became unavailable. I returned the sim card to the old phone and everything works fine.

Any solution?

Thanks

Hi Roi,
It seemed like a software issue on the phone. Have you tried to reset network settings?
Was wifi working on your phone? can you access web page with wifi on?

Relating to the data limit, the data usage in selfserve is the one that matter. If you haven't used up all data there, then it should be fine.

Hi Azure,
Thank you for the answer.
The phone worked ok using wifi. The problem with the internet was only when using the mobile data.
Now I can't even make phone calls...
I'm not sure how to reset the network settings. I can't even get access to the settings...

The phone is from Sprint. It should be unlocked according to the seller. It worked half a day with Koodo so I believe it is (unless I am wrong...)
I reset the settings and the phone and it is still the same...

This case is little strange. As you said now you couldn't make/receive call from the phone and the phone showed "no service"?. Can you change the location and see if it can connect to the Koodo network?

I would check the SIM and phone separately. Can you insert the SIM in another phone and see if it works at your location? Also, can you test the phone with another SIM and see if it can pick up signals? If the phone is still unresponsive, I would try to reset the phone to its factory default.

At the beginning it worked for few hours. I made some phone calls but the data was incomplete (could get WhatsApp messages using data but couldn't send/receive pictures. I tried to change the APN settings when this problem started...
Now, I used the sim card on another phone and it worked fine.
I inserted another Koodo sim card to the V20 and got the same 'service disabled' message on the left upper corner...

I haven't dealt with the "Service disabled" message. However, it could be either IMEI issue or bad ROM/firmware from these forum discussion:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lg-h815-service-disabled-signal-received-t3186804
https://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g3/653749-how-fix-service-disabled-lg-g3.html

I would try to update the phone software and check if your phone was rooted and running "custom ROM". Also, check if your phone could recognize the IMEI itself.

I would also check to see if the phone has been reported stolen
