is there anyway to find out that the phone number was compromised ? some one else answered the phone and a offer was given for a trip and to press a number......I found out and thought phone scam

Sounds like telemarketers. I get those every so often too.

"You've won a free cruise in the Bahamas!!" Yeah right...

but, I guess the phone went dead as soon as the button was pressed......can someone have access to my number and make overseas calls billing it to me?

They can't do that without cloning your sim card.

Hey Ron, if you end up getting telemarketting calls, when you get to speak to an agent, request to have your number added to their do not call list. They are required by law to have it on their list of do not call numbers and won't contact you for 5 years. Beyond this, you could change your phone number.
