Hi I just got my new phone and need to enter all my contacts. Should I save them to phone or SIM card? Or is there a way to have them saved to both. I never new about this until the phone asked me. Thanks

You can enter much more detail in the phone then the sim can hold . If you sync your phone with your Gmail account t your contacts will be saved there too

If you have ppl in your Facebook or Google + that you don't want on your contacts in your phone make sure you don't sync contents when using Facebook app or Google +. I accidentally sync them and it really Sucks because I have many ppl I don't want in there. I'm sure you can delete them from Google account online but I haven't tried yet. Anyways just a heads up for new users.

Ya I know that man I just want them gone off my Google account because they always pop up on every phone I get. I'm sure it's taking up space on the phone even if I'm not seeing them by displaying only certain ones and I have a ton of ppl on my Facebook from back in the days I was making connections in the music industry. You know if I can delete if I go to Google online?

You will want to save your contacts somewhere where they will be backed up. So if you save them on your phone make sure to sync with your Google account or another means. In fact either way you will want a backup somewhere in case you lose your phone.

Your SG2X should also work nicely with Kies. Which is what Samsung uses for backups a Samsung Kies

Let me know if you have questions.

I like using Kies via wifi at home. I use it mostly to text from my browser on my computer. That's pretty much it though.

It depends on the phones capability. Some phones have the option to save contacts to a sim card, some don't. On android phones you can always back up your contacts via a gmail account as already suggested on here

It's always nice to add little bit sugar to an already sweetened cake to make it more sweet, Not all people have gmail accounts to use their Gmail to sync their contacts.

I believe you can actually use a multitude of accounts, wp7 uses your hotmail or gmail or fb or whatever. I prefer gmail but it's preferences. I do remember reading an idea posted by yourself on the annoyance of hmmm "adding sugar"

Off topic but funny lol. And Mat that is not the most convenient way at all, just go into settings and hit 1 button to sync contacts to your Google account and they are saved securely on Google servers. When you get a new phone type in your Google account and bam all your contacts are loaded to your new phone instantly and they still stay safe on Google servers.

Here's what I do. I have a throwaway email address from Gmail. Since I never send any messages from that account, I sync my contacts to that account. Then I set the phone up to only sync contacts from that account. I normally do all of my contacts editing on the computer and not on the phone. A SIM card simply does not have the capacity to save as many fields as your Gmail account does. If you're simply saveing 1 name and 1 number to each contact then the SIM card is fine. But if you need multiple numbers add multiple email addresses for people the SIM card is not your best choice. You are of course free to do what you wish. But I think you will find it is is a much easier experience you may also find out when you go to switch devices this will make the transfer your contacts seamles
