You're comparing apples with rotten apple.

iPhone 4 is an almost-discontinued phone. Why would you buy a discontinued phone instead of one that has just been released?

Because the entire Android platform is useless, lags and is unproductive. I would rather am IPhone 3 over any Android or Samsung device. Do yourself a favour and stand in the Koodo store and hold the S4 and IPhone 5 in your hands and start there. You'll see Apples quality. I had the S4 thinking I would try it, returned within 4 days.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but how can you say that the entire Android platform is useless? Android is near the bottom of my list of preferences, but let's be objective. Lag is present on absolutely every platform, to varying degrees. I don't understand what you mean by unproductive.

As far as apps go: iOS > Android > WP > BB10.

And now to address the original question, I'd recommend the S4 over the iPhone 4. Mercedese, I'm curious as to why you're considering the iPhone 4 instead of the 5 when comparing to the S4, as the iPhone 5 is closer to the S4 in both the features and price.

I do think that the iPhone 4 is still a decent-enough phone, but definitely not a good buy at $300. It will receive an update to iOS 7, but with most of the new features missing. This will be its last update. Not to mention that you won't have Siri on iPhone 4 (and I actually find Siri useful, particularly in the car.

If you really want a 4S, why not buy used on Kijiji? Remember that a Telus 4S is fully compatible with Koodo SIM cards without the need for an unlock. You should be able to find a 16 GB 4S in good to excellent condition for $250-300.

I've been an owner of an iPhone for over 2 years now. I know how it fells like. But never held a Samsung galaxy S4 yet so I can't tell. But to say it's useless, it lags and is unproductive, I think it's going a little bit too far. The S4 has better specs than the iPhone 5 (I know that specs aren't what you should look at) so I can't imagine that it lags. Maybe old Android devices do, but a new one?

I will agree that the iphone is nice, easy to use, but also very restrictive in apples policies. For an android phone, the S4 is as good as it gets right now. Fast, vibrant screen, nicer color (in my opinion), better clarity of sound. Is it responsive? Yes. Lags? No. I don't put bloatware or apps on that run in the background, use a very agressive task killer to limit the number of apps running at once (something you don't have to worry about with the iphone as there is no real multitasking), and I have nothing but respect and admiration for how fast my S4 is. Even the Google Nexus 4 is a great phone, and plain vanilla android so no vendor/carrier bloatware or applications that I will never use..

1st off, it is a PHONE. I need to make and receive calls.. 2nd - I use it for email 3rd - I use it for GPS. Anything else is just an extra. Yes, I could definitely get by with a lesser phone that the G4, but it wouldn't be the same experience.

It all depends on your requirements and how much you can afford.

Comparing a Galaxy S4 is equivalent to comparing it to an iPhone 5
The S3 to an iPhone 4S
The S2 to an iPhone 4
