Koodo has priced Samsung S5 for $635 which is well over its current market price in my opinion by at least $100. How much over priced it is in your opinion?

Looking at some of our competitors, our price is about $65 lower. If you find it for less somewhere else Raza you can always bring it to us still and just pop in a SIM card.

Rogers: 699.99
Bell: 699.99
Virgin: 699.99
Wind: 649.99

Too lazy to open anymore competitor prices.
But to answer your question, No it is not overpriced =]

Koodo's pricing for select smartphones are quite competitive, Koodo has one of the lowest prices for LG G3, Galaxy S4, and other smartphones. Please check competition and not the value for second hand devices.

Hi guys, Thanks for the response but allow me to explain my point of view. Here is how it stacks up from where I'm looking against the competition and I may be missing something so please weigh in

1- Virgin: Virgin charge $199 on Gold plan.  Virgin Gold plan for 750 minutes & 750MB data is for $52/month and they charge $199 on Gold Plan. http://www.virginmobile.ca/en/phones/phone-details.html#!/galaxys5/Black//SP9 Koodo same plan charge is $45/month https://www.koodomobile.com/rate-plans?INTCMP=KMNew_NavMenu_Shop_Plans . So koodo is $7/month cheaper on plan. That translate into saving of $168 over 24 months. But they charge $199.99. So Virgin price on two year gold plan is $199.99+$168 ($7x24) = $367 Same with Koodo is $275+$360 = $635

2- Fido: Monthly plan of 750 minutes & 750Mb data charge is $60/month and they charge $200 upfront. Koodo same plan is $45/month. So Fido charge $15/month more. Accumulated to 24 months is $360. So price per Fido for S5 is $200+$360= $560 while Koodo costs $635

3- S World Electronics : $579 http://sworldele.com/mobile-phone/mobile/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s5-g900f-4g-lte-16gb-gold-smartphone...

4- Amazon has import versions for $499. TigerDirect is out of stock no price available.

I may be entirely missing something so please enlighten?

Thanks

The Gold plan with 750/750 is $60 per month. I'll let you re-calculate.

Thanks dfbutt so Virgin price would be $560 & Fido is also $560. That would make Koodo look $75 more expensive!

65 dollars more on a term.
65 dollars less outright.

It basically costs the same everywhere my friend.

Indeed Raza. Bear in mind that with Koodo, based on the above example, your plan will always be $45 even after 2 years. However, that same plan with Virgin or Fido remains $52 even after the 2 years. Which one would you rather hold on for the a longer period? Ours will provide you  with a $98 savings every year. Ultimately the choice is yours and we will respect your decision.

They both have BYOD plan which is $45/mo:750min&750MB - same with Koodo
If you can switch to it after 2 years , it doesn't make difference if you are with Koodo or with them.

I have plans that suits my family's needs and good price, so I won't change them any time soon. But if you start fresh, you want to compare carriers  in total - value for money, customer service/support, coverage area, overage charge...etc.

From what I understand Raza doesn't want to pay for the phone up front. So, while BYOD plans are out there today, the question still remains whether in 2 years that same value will be available. With Koodo you can stay on the $45 plan for the rest of your life if you choose. I can't say what plans will be available to switch to in the market from anyone down the road. Better, worse? It's up to people to feel comfortable with chances they take to trade off today for tomorrow.

Hi, I'm with Koodo for around 4 years with two lines so It is not that I'm not satisfied thus far. I just want it to shine the dusty side. Keep the benchmark and continue to offer better than rivals. Felt that Samsung S5 is over-priced so raised the point to debate as my feedback to Koodo and know what other members think.
