When i try to turn wifi on/off in settings the icin stays pale grey. Data works. Airplane mode is off. My wifi works on all our other devices. Ive resarted my phone and removed recently added apps. My phone wont connect to wifi at work either. Advice please

Did your phones wifi settings get set to 5ghz and the router you're trying to connect to isn't running on 5ghz? Check to see and turn it to auto

Angela,
You could access your S5 Neo phone settings as in this tutorial https://telus.sds.modeaondemand.com/en-ca/samsung/smartphone/galaxy_s5/android/marshmallow/6.0.1/sim...

From there you will see the "Backup and Reset", choose that one.
Choose the "Reset the network settings" in the sub menus, and reset it.

It seems the s5 Neo is a bit different than the s5. I was able to factory reset as advised by a mobile rep. Unfortunately that didn't reset the wifi. It still would not connect. Data does but that gets too pricey. I was told that its a random hardware malfunction. Fixing it is not worth it so now im in the market for a new phone. my s5 neo has been so great otherwise. Now im considering a samsung s7. Thanks guys for your time and suggestions :)

For anyone else with an S5 Neo who needs to perform a network reset, go to: Settings > General management - tap Reset, then tap Reset network settings. A factory reset wipes everything stored on the phone, while a network reset refreshes the connections to mobile data, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
