Just curious as to why Koodo has decided to drop the Samsung Galaxy S5?

Good question,  I suspect they are bringing in something to replace it.
Possibly the Sam S5 Neo ?
Stay tuned to the Koodo phone page

We have sold out. Replaced it with the A5

The Moto G 3rd Gen has the same processor, camera, and display size for half the price plus water resistance and a newer Android version. The only thing the A5 does better is 16gb on board storage (but both phones support microSD slot so this isn't quite as important) and an extra gig of RAM.

The Moto X Play is actually cheaper but has a better processor, camera, and a huge battery in comparison. Same with the G3 and M8. There's little point getting the A5 over any of those unless you really really like Touchwiz and a metal frame. :/

Can't think of any reason to like touchwiz.

Well it's a lot less offensive than it used to be. The Samsung flagships this year finally feel as fast as their specs say they do on paper.

It's a pity Koodo have opted for such an inept phone to replace the S5 if this is indeed the case, why did they waste time on the A5 at all? Appears a tad odd to me.

The Canadian dollar is rather weak right now which drives up phone prices. Be prepared to see a lot more of midrange devices from Canadian carriers. On the bright side, modern mid-rangers are quite capable.

I actually made this comment slightly before I knew that Koodo were going to be carrying the S5 Neo. However some of the Motorola devices are pretty impressive for the price. I still have an S5 and a Moto G (first gen) and comparing the two together of course the S5 is quite a bit faster but I've had the Moto G nearly 2 years and it's been an excellent little phone, very reliable and sturdy and even plays some of the more modern games without too much lag. So I may still pick up a play depending on what happens around or slightly after Barcelona next year as I've been pretty pleased with the quality of Motorolla stuff.

Also looking at some benchmark scores it looks to me that even a second gen moto g will rip it a new one. http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_g_3rd_gen_benchmarked_vs_the_predecessor-news-13252.php

A5 as a replacement for the S5 did sound somewhat fishy and I think they have even reduced it's price now, maybe someone at Koodo got a little confused :P But yes, the S5 Neo is a far more appropriate replacement for the S5, it makes a little more sense now :)

But at least they have the Neo now, an improvement for sure.

Incidentally as a kind of FYI I guess. It seems to me that the S5 Neo is better made physically perhaps than it's older brother the S5 however as far as specs are concerned the S5 Neo is slightly slower and it lacks the IR blaster so no more armchair cellphone channel hopping if that even matters. Also good to note is that the USB 3 connector has gone in favor of the more common micro USB standard.
