Hi,

A corner of my heating pad got on top of my Samsung Galaxy S3, and now the screen on my phone is fading away. I can barely see anything on it.

What I would like to know is if it would be worth it to pay for a repair or pay off the $125 tab I have and upgrade?

Definitely upgrade.
Fixes to the LCD panel are costly.
Plus this is only the first of many things that are bound to go wrong with an older device.
it would suck to drop 80 bucks on fixing the screen only for the battery to go next etc etc

Definitely jump into a new device is my suggestion.

Especially since the Galaxy S3 is getting quite old now and will not be updated further with any new versions of Android. You'll be extremely happy to get a new device and realize just how slow your S3 actually is. If your having any issues choosing a new device we can all gladly recommend something in your price range that will be best for you, just give us your price range and what is most important to you such as great camera, great battery life, best audio quality, speed performance of things loading ect.

Thanks guys. I can only afford a phone I don't have to pay anything upfront for, so I guess I'll just upgrade to the S4.

How about the Moto X Play? It's almost same price range.
And the Moto is newer and has better camera, better  processor.

Please don't do the S4 either. It's slightly better than the S III but it's still over 2 years old and hitting the end of its lifespan, too.

Moto X Play is the best similar-priced option out there, like Mayumi said. Even the G3 is better than the S4.

I think I'll be able to get the Samsung S5 neo if I get it on Tab Plus.

I don't recommend Tab Plus for any phone unless you're okay paying a lot more money each month. Not only are the plans more expensive overall, but the Tab charge is $21/month too.

Year, And you have to change your current plan to one of Tab plus plans which start from $54.  You have to pay $75/mo minimum  ($54 + tab charge $21/mo) for next 24 months.
Tab Plus plan is not a good deal.

It might be a little better than S3 spec wise.
What is priority for you to pick a phone - price, camera, battery life, performance?
I haven't try the Prime, so I can't compare... But I play around this site to compare phones. You should try even with M8, Lg phone and many more to find out what is best fit for you.
(I usually go to any cellphone store to play with actual phones ;) , so you can feel them in your hand and see its basic perform)
