I got my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 x about 3 years ago. Few months after purchase the phone wouldn't charge. I sent it back to be fixed on warranty. Never had any problems with it since until recently. The shuts down with still a lot of juice in the battery. When I press power button it shows the battery's empty. Only when I plug it the charger and press the power button again it shows the battery is almost fully charged and powers up. Now I have to have the charger plugged in so i can quickly connected to it when some one calls or sends a text. I'm not sure if it's the battery or the phone. I was going to do factory reset on it but I'm afraid it might make things even worse. Does anybody know how to fix that problem?

The phone is giving a false battery reading. If you're not able to power the phone on without the charger, that's usually an indication that the battery can no longer hold a charge and needs to be replaced. You can order a replacement battery for your Ace 2x from eBay Canada.
