Am do to upgrade for a while now. Have a positive tab of $150. Wanted an S7 but someone told me the A5 is just as good. Anyone have any experience with the A5 and has the software in the A5 been updated? From what I can tell there isn't much difference between the A5 and the S7...besides the price. TIA

The S7 is last year's flagship phone from Samsung. TheA5 is a mid-range phone. While either may meet your needs, I would not agree the A5 is 'as good' as the S7.

The two phones are actually more different than you think. You can look at a comparison of the two here:

It all comes down to choice. The A5 specs aren't as good as the S7, but they aren't bad on their own. It's cheaper than the S7, but it doesn't look to be a bad phone. The display resolution is lower than S7, but at that size, you wouldn't notice.

Everything in the S7 would be a little snappier.  This would mean the phone might last a bit longer (assuming the phone is not dropped or damaged).  If you are prone to dropping your phone, go for the A5
