I've sent one text to an international phone but the same text has been received 20 times. Is it a problem of my phone or of the receiver phone? How can I stop my phone from sending the same text so many times? Thank you!

This would be an issue on your friend's end. The sms network attempts to send the message a specific number of times (255 I believe). It only does this if it reads that the message was not delivered to the network. Occassionally, the network can hiccup and say that the message didn't send when it actually did, thus resulting in additional attempts of the message being sent. Doing a batter pull generally fixes it, if not your friend would need to contadt their provider for assistance.

This is a common problem for blackberry's when they send SMS. But 20 times is excessive.

This can happen on Android phones also, if you're using an Airave, Handcent or Gosms? Or any combination of these... if so, disable all of them for a day or two. The airave definitely causes multiples.

If you are using one of those apps, then you should check out if they have a fix for these issues. Usually it would be posted on their forums too

You can check the SMS activity on self serve profile to see if really the message was sent 20 times from your phone. If not, the problem is most likely on the recipient side.
