Rogers mail with Nexus phone
1. How to remove emails from phone without removing them from server?

2. How to prevent server from loading older emails onto phone?

Which App are you using as the EMail client on your phone?
If it's the stock EMail App found on Nexus phones, neither of those options are available.

You might have better luck with a 3rd-party EMail client like TouchDown--> https://play.google.com/store/apps/de...

Thanks for your response. Yes, I am using the stock EMail App, but I find it hard to believe that there is no way to stop it from doing this. It keeps loading older and older emails. I delete them as they're loaded, but it then loads the next oldest 25 emails. At this point, it's down to loading emails from last March! And if I delete those, it will keep going further back in time. Is there no way to limit this?

On the other question, I used to have a setting on my iPod that allowed me to chose whether deleting emails on the device would also delete them on the server. I can't find a similar setting here, and I'm surprised that I can't make that choice. When I'm travelling, I like to get rid of non-essential messages from my device, but know that they'll still be on my computer when I get home and can look at them at my leisure.

Not that a know of, no.
Nexus devices come with stock Android & while many like this, it does admittedly come with the downside of not being the most robust/feature-rich experience.
It's pretty much a blank slate ready for you to download your own Apps that won;t conflict with the system unlike devices that come with their own UI can have problems with Apps interacting with each other.

So, I think you'll need an additional App & I'd recommend TouchDown that I linked to in my previous post unless you want to dabble into ROOT'ing - there's probably a ROM that comes with the EMail features you're seeking.
