Roaming on manual network selection

Hi, Can I avoid roaming charges with or without mobile data (off) if i choose network manually to Koodo? My query is to avoid accidental roaming charges in USA Border visits (though technically staying on canadian border at Niagara falls,ON). Please advise

Generally, although it's not guaranteed. Koodo will credit accidental roaming charges if they occur, although you will need to contact them and request it, since everything they see on their end will indicate that you were in the US.

I recommend turning off mobile data roaming in your settings. If your phone picks up an American tower, it will send you a text messaging saying welcome to the US. If you are ever charged for roaming while you are in Canada. You can keep in touch with a customer service agent through Facebook or by calling in to get the charges reversed.

In answer to your original question: YES. Selecting Koodo as the only carrier to connect to will prevent you roaming on any other network.

If your phone reboots for any reason, however, it will automatically go back to selecting the strongest signal.
