roaming charged 10$ per minut mobile data turned off

i have a new koodo phone galaxy S7. im abroad and have data turned off 24/7. using wifi at family and use my old inactive koodo phone here.

can someone please explain why koodo charges 10$ per minut , while data is turned OFF 24/7 .
it was a surprise to receive an email from koodo recently about roaming use and after checking selfserve i discover that 14 tekst messages send from Canada which I never opened! are charged 10$ a minut , thats a shock.

140$ charges for 14 minuts internations teksting is ridiculous. im with koodo since 2006 never had this kind of issues.

i like to talk to a koodo rep can i call them from my phone 611 or ? without getting more surprises??

im in the netherlands and use my new activated aswell old phone on wifi only. data is switched off all the time.
it seems many tekst messages are send from canada but i did not open tekst messahing. i see im charged international teksting 14× this month for 10$ one minute tekst.
thats so wrong but i dont know how to contact customer service

Only phone calls are charged by the minute. Text charges are per text message, with incoming messages being free, and data, (if used), is charged by the MB. What EXACTLY does it say on the bill?

hello Timo bill will come April 1. After koodo roaming email i checked selfserve and there i see that 14 minuts airtime are charged with 10$ for 1 minute. it reads:

to: 99999 roam/voy... longdistance $ o.oo, local air time $0.00 duration 1.00 minute, 2totale $ 10.

Total minutes 14.
data is turned off im on wifi at family.
I did not call or received any calls since i left canada.

hope you know whats going on.

i choose that with my old phone . when my new phone arrived, just before i left to europe, i had to call koodo for activation and if ask him if he could cancel all addings to my account. i wanted to start fresh.
it seems that didnt happen if its what you said.
costly.
can i call koodo with my cell while abroad 611? or do i get charged?

What name is the account under Cecilia? We could look at your account at a high level to see what happened. Adding/Removing add-ons do come with a service fee however they are free online.

hello Bernard account is under my name sinds 2006 cecilia hoorn (2 phones active).
in februari i received my new galaxy 7 and had to call for activation. koodos rep (very helpfull btw) dealt with all the wishes like switch simcards between the 2 devices. i wanted to start fresh so all features cancelled.
i see koodo charged me 10$ for that in last bill.
thats why im shocked with this weeks roaming costs.
i cancel it yesterday but hope koodo can look into my issue

Thanks Cecilia! I couldn't find your account with just your first name. This is a public forum so some may hesitate with sharing last name etc. If you feel more comfortable in a private setting best approach is via Facebook where someone can validate your account.
