I saved my SMS messages in a file when I had the HTC Desire 601 Kitkat with the stock message app by using its import/export messages function on a sd card.  I can not restore the messages on the LG G3.  Sold my HTC already.  Is there a way I could restore the messages.  Thanks.

If the HTC is gone and the current file isn't able to restore then you may be out of luck.

For the new phone try an app called sms backup and restore. Works great and even automatically if you set it right.

Tried that and it doesn't read the file.  Do you happen to know what app Kitkat uses for SMS?  Thanks.

That app has to be on both phones. You backup on one device and restore to the new one

I don't see a backup restore / import export feature on the default Google messenger app.

Thanks for the help.  Looks like I may have to contact the buyer and see if he is willing to bring the phone back for me to do a transfer.

If the HTC was reset already, your messages are gone too

I have the backup file in the sd card, I can restore them with the HTC and use sms backup and restore app to re-backup so that I can restore them with the G3.  The problem is the buyer isn't replying to my email.
