I can't remember if the US needs it as well but otherwise that's correct. You can also take out your Sim, or keep your phone in airplane mode to not send / receive calls.

Ok. There's been a few accidental calls to the US and I want to stop that. Hopefully that'll do the trick. Still want Canada wide calling.

If you mean that you want to disable to call USA while you are in Canada, then I don't think removing PPU ILong Distance will help.
If you dial unknown area code, you should check it before making calls to prevent accidental ILD charges.

Mayumi is correct. Removing PPU int'l long distance will only stop you from calling numbers which require an international dialling prefix. You will still be able to call any number within the North American Numbering Plan, which covers: Canada, United States including its territories (American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and United States Virgin Islands), Bermuda and many Caribbean nations, including Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos Islands, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sint Maarten, Trinidad and Tobago.

The short answer is that you can't. There may be an app available which would allow you to do so, but I have no idea which one(s) would work for you.

@ John
There is no long distance charge for receiving calls from USA/ International at least.
It still use your minutes if you don't have unlimited minutes tho.

removing that feature of your account will not guarantee the stop of the accidental calls to Us
