Refer a Friend - Was told could do then when time came not allowed

Im new to koodo and when i signed up we mentioned that my son would be switching his account to koodo and the kiosk said that we would get the refer a friend. So we go today and get him switched then they tell me because he's under my account ( do to his age) we dont qualify. Hes signed up on a $55. month plan and I refer him to switch to koodo. Whats the difference if he was old enough to have his own account - just more paperwork for koodo. I was very disappointed that we where not given this benifit as, I love the pricing on koodo. And the staff have been so pleasent to deal with.
I guess I'm just venting that I'm not getting the credits to get a new phone. Just need to make staff aware of limits on the program so they are not giving out fause info.
Thanks for letting me vent.
