will give you actual connected signal strength. The bars on the top of the screen are just barely decorations.

or something similar. Gives fairly instanteneous readings for voice and data in -dBm units. As long as you show less than 100 -dBm, you should be able to communicate.

Even in areas that have good coverage, it’s not uncommon to have dead zones. Stay away from large metallic objects such as wrought iron railings and open any metallic window blinds.

Had a local problem with trees galore at home in a rural area and was able to find a “hot spot” where everything works by following the needle.

So I should stand in one spot while facing north and touch my nose. This is bull I shouldn't have to do things to get reception. I live in a area with three towers not to far away. My home has one bar and my work has 1-0 bars and for LTE well forget about it I've seen it once.. And now my samsung phone is broken because I had to remove the case in order to see if my reception would improve resulting in me having my phone fall out of my pocket and break. Now I have no phone so reception isn't a problem anymore.

Rory, I am about to port 3 numbers to Telus and I also live in Barrhaven but in the new development in half moon bay. I'm currently with Rogers and also get weak to no signal in the area. I'm was hoping Telus would be better but sounds like there are signal issues with all the carriers in the area. How is your signal with the rest of the city? The signal is excellent with Rogers in most parts of the city for me.
