Just switched over to Koodo after being with Bell for over 40 years, great rate plans! Now I would like to purchase a new phone from Koodo but all the best phones that are on sale require you to use a Large Tab to get the sale price. Then to select the large tab you need a more expensive rate plan! The sale price should be in effect whatever tab you use, including buying the phone outright!

Hi Pix,
I think you could buy most phones with any Tab. However, the promotion (activation credit / gift) might not be there for your Tab.
The activation credits are mostly used to attract people to certain cellular plans. The carriers normally use them as a marketing tool.

With the premium phones that are currently on sale, you can only get the sale price if you are on a large tab. if you are on a small or medium tab, or want to purchase the phone outright the sale price does not apply. If I was willing to accept the cost of a plan that I could use a large tab for, I would not have switched to Koodo.  The sale prices should be available to all purchases.

That's the trick of Tab Large.  It looks really good deal you getting for deep discount on upfront price for a phone.
You need to be on Tab L plan if you want to use Tab L discount. But Tab L plans sucks - more expensive, but you get much less.
Just compare with Tab M plan.:1 GB for $74 on Tab L and 2GB for $45 on Tab M (They have promos right now).  It's almost $30 per mo difference and get less data.
So, they give you good price for a phone but collecting  from rate plan.

Also, they want monthly commitment from customer, that's why they dont give you any discount on outright.

If you have a good rate plan, I wouldn't change it to a Tab L.  It will be more expensive in a long run.

@Pix, they have been doing that for years...
The activation credit were to promote higher rate plans (with large Tab). You could wait for a better promotion time and/or check in with Bestbuy, wowmobile, themobileshop... Those vendors sometimes have other promotions on top of Koodo plans.
