Please explain how prepaid plans work. If I buy $15 plan what do I get. Can I use the phone for free or does it cost me per minute? Do I have to buy minutes in addition? Can I set up to have the $15 automatically put on a credit card so it never expires?

For prepaid, first you pick a base plan. This has to be added each month. Yes, you can select auto top ups with a credit card. The $15 base plan doesn't have any calls at all; not even evenings/weekends. The $25 has local evenings/weekends unlimited after 7pm.

You need to add a booster to make calls. The best value is the $25 for 500 Canada-wide minute option. Data is available too. What's cool about the boosters is that they don't expire as long as the base plan is kept renewed, which is great if you use very little calling per month.

Yes, you can set up automatic top ups of $15 so when your base plan renews ($15) - assuming you're interested in this base plan since you're topping up $15 - it will automatically renew.

Reminder though that the $15 base plan doesn't include data or talk minutes so you'll need to get boosters if you want them.

Thanks for the info. One more question. Does Koodo have any family plans? Like for 2 phones on the same plan.
