Questionable Easy Roam billing

Travelled down to the states over the July long weekend. I realized 30 mins after crossing the border, that mobile data roaming was turned on and subsequently turned it off.

Got a bill from Koodo charging me for 3 days of Easy Roaming. I expected 1 day but not 3 days. On all the other days, I didn't send\receive any texts, make or receive any phone calls and data roaming was off. So what gives?

hi Messmeriza,

What phone are you using? have you turned off your cellular data? "data roaming" off was not enough.

Most of the problem with roaming is from data. Sometimes it was the phone, some times it was some "data leakage". What did it say in the bill? did you have some detail how much data you were using? If the amount was like 0.01MB or something small, you could call Koodo and get the charge reversed. It was likely a data leakage .

That billing line looks more like a call, than data use.  Ive never used easy roam so I am unsure how it should look if data was used

Does your usage say anything different during your time in the US?

All 3 line items below, notice the times these aren't phone calls.
Fri Jun 29 10:31 pm : 99999 ROAM/VOY : 1:00 : $7.00
Sat Jun 30 11:57 pm : 99999 ROAM/VOY : 1:00 $7.00
Mon Jul 2 12:33 am : 99999 ROAM/VOY : 1:00 : $7.00

Curious that the first billing is 10:31p considering I crossed the border at 2pm that day and Easy Roam is supposed to be for 24hrs.

No additional data usage charges but at the top of my bill it specifically calls out Easy Roam charges (but not what triggered it)

Easy Roam U.S. $21.00 Total used 3 (Day)

@Messmeriza: The 99999 Roam was just general note to show you when the easyroam started. I would suggested you check the pdf bill and see any strange data consumption/call there.

Indeed those charges are in the call section. Also, looking at your bill it seems you are on an out-of-province plan, which would have to be changed for a plan available within your province. Give us a call and we can help selecting one.

Hahaha oops--this is why you should never ask for support when on an out-of-province plan [assuming you're using workarounds to get on a plan from a province with actual competition and therefore cheaper plans].
