Question about first bill

I got my phone on Sunday (4 days ago) and when I setup the account for billing I noticed that it said next bill is in 2 days. That struck me as odd because I was under the impression I could get this phone and walk out of the store not paying anything until the end of the month.

If I log on now it says "30 days until your next bill" and there isn't an invoice for the "bill" it said was coming out yesterday.

What's going on here? Am I going to have to pay my bill upfront days after getting the phone? How long until I can see that bill? How long after that until you have to pay it?
I sure hope you can pay via bank transfer because I don't have a credit card to attach to the account.

Hello Taylor, don't be afraid everything's really easy in fact.

What happens is that when you bought your phone, you were almost at the end of billing period. The billing period is the same for everyone, this is why you saw that the nest billing period is in 2 days.

Also, you can pay with a bank transfer indeed. You just need to set it up. Also, you're not obligated to attache your CC to the account for pre-authorized payments. You can pay when you want with what you want CC or bank transfer.

Finally, keep in mind that your next bill will be a little bit higher than your plan because you would need to pay for 1 month + the days before the next billing period. It's called pro-ration. Let's say you bought your phone in the middle of a billing period, then on your first bill you will have 15 days + 1 month to pay. Which would be equivalent to paying a full month + second half of the first month as a Koodo customer.

Hope everything's clear. If you got any question, feel free to ask them!

PS: It take some time before you're going to be able to view your bill online!

The billing cycle is somewhat randomly set when you sign up.

You would be able to see your invoice a few days after your billing cycle has been completed.

Note your first bill will include this short prorated time plus the full month for the upcoming period so it will be a little bit higher for this first bill.

Yes you can pay by bank transfer.

Your invoice is due about 27 days after the end of your billing cycle (note that this is not the invoice date)

Thanks the the help, so since I got my phone 4 days before the end of the billing period...will I get a bill now for 4 days of use? Or on the next billing period...after a month has gone by?

I'm such a NOOB! I just received my first eBill and almost lost my mind. It was substantially higher than expected. When I originally set up my account, I specifically asked about Koodo's billing cycle. The representative told me I would be billed in Feb. for Jan. usage, then billed in March for Feb. usage, etc. Apparently I was given wrong info. Thank you for the above explanations.

I do have another concern. If I incur any additional charges during the Feb. 8 - March 7 billing cycle, do those charges then appear on my March 8 - April 7 eBill? I will assume so, but I just want some confirmation. Thanks in advance.

Yes you are correct.
Your monthly plan is charged ahead of time, but any overages can only be charged after you have used them and will be shown on the following bill. This is why it takes a few days to calculate your ebill after your billing cycle has ended.
