Question regarding billing cycle/first bill

Hi,

My phone was shipped on the 31st of August and I received and activated it September 1st. In self-serve when I go to usage, it says my current bill cycle is September 1st - September 30th. Even though I have not received my first bill (and don't know my billing cycle), am I correct in assuming this must be my bill cycle?

If so, I understand how prorated charges work, but I'm confused about when my first bill will come in. I know you pay prorated rates for the days since you activated until the start of your new bill cycle date (so I assume one day for me)?, and a full month in advance. But that's what is confusing me. I got a text from Koodo saying my bill should be ready by October 10th, but that seems a little late. If I do receive it then, that means I'm paying for the month of September plus whatever prorated charges from activation. But that doesn't seem like a month in advance to me (it just seems like I'm paying for the month I just used). Sorry if this sounds confusing, but I just want a better idea of what I will receive my bill, when it will be due (based on my bill cycle posted above), and clarification about paying a month in advance.

Thank you.

Postpaid account always payin a month in advance.
If you activated your account on Sep 1st and system determined your billing date as 30th, then you will receive your first bill around between Oct 4th to 7th.  It's usually 3 - 5 days after the billing date(last day of your billing cycle)
It should included amount of your plan( and Tab charge) from Sep 1st - Sep 30th and Oct 1st -Oct 30/31.

I've  always seen the system seems pick the bill date within 3 to 15days after the activation date, but you had whole 30days. So,your first bill would be higher than normal.

Thank you. I'm still a little confused. If I'm paying for the whole month of September at the end of the bill cycle, then how is that paying for a month in advance? I'm just paying for the month I used, like any other month. I assumed a month in advance meant I would get my first bill shortly after activating my phone and then again at the end of September. Not pay for two whole months at once. So you're saying that the month of September is considered to be prorated charges and then October is the month in advance? I thought prorated charges were for the days BEFORE the beginning of your new billing cycle.

And if I'm paying a month in advance, does that mean that I won't pay for my last month of service?

"If I'm paying for the whole month of September at the end of the bill cycle, then how is that paying for a month in advance?"

- Because you activated on Sep 1st and the system picked your bill date on 30th.  Your prorated amount is from activation day(Sep 1st) to end of your billing cycle.
It usually within 10 days or so. But you had a whole month of September as prorated period  In your case(I never seen it TBH).
Your first bill will included "Prorated period/whole Sep" plus  a month in advance which is Oct 1st to Oct 30/31.
Does this explain?

Yes, it does. Thank you. I was confused because I didn't know they would prorate a whole month. Guess I just got unlucky with when I activated.

Yes, I guess it is when you look at it that way. When I said unlucky, I was referring to the amount I'll be paying for my first bill. I would have preferred to have my first bill arrive sooner and be less than than arrive later and be more, that's all.
