Question about Video Messaging?

Basically, I just got an iPhone 6 on Koodo but I sent a friend a video text message today. The thing is my plan has unlimited texting but now I'm having my doubts on whether it is actually free or not. I read that if you have your data on, thats the only way you can but I had my data turned off but my wifi was working. And for some reason the text went through. Can someone answer whether its free or whether I would be charged cause I really didnt know?

Hey Pirashon,

If you sent your friend the video message while Wifi was on (data was turned off), then it went through as an iMessage and for that you're not charged so no worries. Just a heads up, when your data is off and Wifi is on, your messages are sent as iMessage meaning no charge. Oh and Enjoy your new phone :).

Hi Pirashon,

If you choose to send a picture/video message via text message (shows up as green) you will need your data turned on as it can't be done via WiFi (unless you use iMessage between iPhones like you already have). Where your plan includes unlimited messaging (text and picture) you don't have to worry about being charged for sending pictures or videos from your phone, regardless if it's sent via MMS or iMessage.

Just my two cents :)
