I am leaving for USA tomorrow for four days. My current plan includes unlimited texting, 500 Canada-wide minutes, and 500 MB data. I have never been sure if 'unlimited texting' means unlimited within Canada only, or also if I am outside Canada (and texting to another Canadian phone number).  Can someone please clarify? Also, if I want to add US data for my trip, is there an option for 'data only'? The only option I see is a 3-day/$30 or 10-day/$40 package with unlimited texting/minutes and 250 MB data. But if international texting is already included in my existing plan, it would be redundant to pay for this.  Can't I just purchase data only?  The friend I am travelling with pays just $5 a day for US data only--doesn't Koodo offer its customers something similar?

Your current unlimited texting only applies while you are in Canada. Once in the USA, you would pay $5 per 100 texts, unless you buy an add-on.

To my knowledge no Canadian carrier offers a data only rate at $5 per day. The Rogers family of plans offers a Roam like home, where data, minutes and texts as in their regular plan is accessible in the USA for $5 per day.
