What better way to grow the customer base then to offer to buy out your device balance and put it on a tab with Koodo.
Unless there is some CRTC law against this sort of thing.

I sell Koodo services already, and one of the most common objections is that they just signed with someone else.

Business wise this would be a bad idea IMO. Good for customers, bad for Koodo.

It's really not.

Okay Mitchell, I'll bite.

Lets say you "transfer" a $400 device balance onto a Koodo tab and you have a $40 plan. That's $400 Koodo is literally paying out of their pocket of real money. It would take 10 months before Koodo broke even on buying your contract out, plus the extra months to make up for your essentially 10 months of free service that cost Koodo money. AND THEN Koodo can start making profit. So at least a year using that example.

Maybe you aren't familiar with the way koodo plans work, which is funny.
But you would add a tab charge of 1/24th of the 400 onto the monthly plan.
Come on man!
You're a master!

Oh and a tab of 400 would have to be on one of the larger plans too =P
So 40 is a no-go

Not really sure where free service came into this. I think what he's trying to get at is similar to how in the states and even different places in Canada there are mobile service providers offering to buy out current contracts if you sign up with them instead.

I have only had my first cell phone ever, since January and of course I'm with koodo. I was a Bell land line customer for over 50 years until I switched to my cable provider. It's hard for me to say a good thing about Bell. But, I would love to be the koodo employee that calls them and says haha you lost another customer. I'd even work for free to do it. lol.
