received a text indicating I can add another line to my account as a Boxing deal sale. I'm looking for more details as what this means and how much more will it cost. Want to add my mother in law so she can cancel with Bell. The sales end Jan 3rd Please advise Best Regards,

The boxing day deals are all listed at koodomobile.com. Unfortunately it is impossible to tell you exactly how much it will cost, as the phone you select, as well as the plan you want, will vastly affect the price you will pay.

In comparison to Bell, you'll get better promos on Koodo for budget phones, and might find higher-end phones at a better discount than with Bell/Rogers/Telus. As Timo mentioned, many variables to consider: your province of residence, how much talk/data your mother in law would need/use, what type of phone you'd be getting her unless she continues to use her own/existing phone, etc.

Thank you Timo... Can I use an Iphone that I already have, just use Koodo SMS card and tranfer the phone number? What I really want to know is what really is the promo about? I will look on the koodomobile site again..

No. BYOD promo for new line/account activation only.

While that would be nice, it is not the way it is happening.

The only way around this would be to port out to Telus/Koodo prepaid or another provider, then port back in as a new activation. Or call customer service and ask for loyalty to see if they'd match it to save you the hassle.

I don't think so. Once you ported out your number, your account will be canceled and have to pay off the tab plus you need to buy a prepaid sim plus plan. Then open an postpaid account again (run a credit check, buy a new sim...etc) yes, it's big hassle.

Also, I don't think calling loyalty give you BYOD discount. If they do, everyone would call in.

@Mayumi...that's the thing...Loyalty offers generally aren't advertised, meaning all we as subscribers can do is call and inquire. It's a lesser cost to the carrier to honour a new activation promo than to have the account closed, then open a new one.

Since the new activation promos are often better than loyalty promos, there'll always be customers who will play the promo game to exploit new activation promos.

I'm sorry but I can't see anything on the home page regarding the Boxing day Sale. Could you attach the actual link?  I'm heading to a kios tomorrow I want to make sure I have all the details as possible before I cancel my mother in law phone and active with koodo.

Hi Sabina,

All the prices you see under phones and plans are the current prices. The sales are already applied on everything you see.

"..a text indicating I can add another line to my account as a Boxing deal sale"

- Your text meant more like this: "now you are qualify to add another line because of good payments history.(not as a Boxing deal sale).  And there are many boxing deal sale to pick a phone/plan for your 2nd line."

If you(your mother in law) want to keep her number, then do not cancel her Bell number. Porting/transferring number need an active account.  Your previous carrier's account will be close once porting is done.
